Five Things to do in Belgrade this April

Visit Belgrade Botanical Garden and its legendary neighbors

Morning walk among the plants? Or at sunset, when these green babies act totally different? From 1 April Belgrade Botanical Garden is open from 9am till 7pm. Pick your time.

Once you’re in the neighborhood you’d probably want to taste one of best bureks in Belgrade. That is Ljupče at Dalmatinska Street. Being a good old authentic artisan bakery it is, Ljupče opens at 6am, sells only what was baked that morning and closes at 2pm.

In case you are making a pre-evening visit to Belgrade Botanical Garden, have a drink at Idiott Bar afterwards. One of the few rock n roll places surviving in Belgrade. Don’t be surprised if you stick until wee hours. Often happens to us.

Dance to hero DJs

Dance the night away at BUKA event on Saturday 13 April starting from 9pm. Until 4am or even longer, 20 alternative musicians from Belgrade and former Yugoslavia will play their sets. The venue is a super exciting abandoned old sugar mill transformed into theatre.

This is where you want to be this Saturday night in Belgrade. The ticket at the entrance costs 1500 dinars (12,5 EUR).

See great documentaries at festival to understand Serbia better

15th European Feature Documentary Film Festival ‘Magnificent 7’ takes place at Kombank Hall in Belgrade from 9 to 15 April.

Every evening at 8pm you can see a great documentary.  The program includes Honeyland, Bridges of Time, What Walaa Wants, I Had a Dream, Buddy, Gods of Molenbeek and The Earth.

The films are in original languages, with subtitles in Serbian.

Friday 12 April is reserved for two special screenings we sincerely recommend. These are the movies by young and acclaimed Serbian filmmaker Mila Turajlić: Cinema Comunisto at 5.30 pm and The Other Side of Everything at 8pm.

Tour and taste Zemun

Zemun is absolutely lovely in April! The farmers market, the Danube, the swans, the blooming trees, the views from Gardoš tower, the fish specialties…

Spend a slow day in Zemun and it will feel like three days.

Should you wish to learn to prepare a local dish check out this experience  – a cooking class in Zemun hosted by a charming local.

Easter eggs fight

What a joyful way to wrap up a great month that April is!

Egg fight is an old tradition that comes with Orthodox Easter, that falls on 28 April this year.

Our favorite Easter eggs of 2018! By Belgrade artist ZEZ Lunatic.

Drop by a local farmers market to pick your invincible fighter egg and join a good fight!

If you’re not that competitive you can still enjoy the egg colors and their original designs and decorations.

Enjoy your April in Belgrade!
