Visiting Belgrade in April? You made a great choice, as April is one of the best times to visit Belgrade. Belgrade in April offers ideal temperatures, trees turning green and blooming, outdoor seating at cafes, seasonal produce at markets and restaurant menus and extraordinary cultural, wine and sport events.
Why April is Ideal for Visiting Belgrade
In Belgrade in April, the air temperatures are ideal for exploring the city’s streets and green areas on foot and making spontaneous stops at restaurants and cafe terraces.
You can bask in the sun over a coffee or a meal as long as you like. In Belgrade, waiters won’t ask you if you’re finished or rush you in any way.
Daily highs typically reach 17°C – 19 C° (62°F – 66°F), while lows are around 7°C (44.6 °F)
This year, the Orthodox Easter is on 12 April. If you are curious about the Orthodox Easter, find out about the Serbian Easter traditions to experience in Belgrade.
Enjoy Outdoor Cafes With Sunny Terraces in the Historical Center or Belgrade
Belgrade is famous for its outdoor cafe culture. As soon as the spring arrives, the locals hit their favorite places to socialize over a cup of coffee.

If you ask us which outdoor cafes in Belgrade are ideal for basking in the sun, we say you’d best hit Kosančićev Venac street. Here, the string of the cafe terraces is bathing in sunlight all day long.
The street is one of the oldest and most coveted in Belgrade, with the unspoiled atmosphere of old times and cobblestone. The outdoor seating terraces offer beautiful, vast panoramas over the Sava River and the dramatic sunset. For the perfect sunset watching in April, make sure you are there around 7pm.
If you love atmospheric neighborhoods and their stories, you’ll want to check our private guided walk of Belgrade’s culturally richest mile, starting right here at Kosančićev venac.
Go for Long Walks by the Water in Belgrade in April
If you prefer long walks and resting your eyes on greenery or water, the city’s two rivers, the Sava and Danube and the lake Ada Ciganlija offer kilometres of promenade and cycling trails.

Ušće Park – Visit for Panoramic Views, Lying on Grass and Modern Art and Architecture
Our favorite place for long walks in Belgrade is the Ušće Park in New Belgrade, at the confluence of the Sava into the Danube. Along the park, you can walk the banks of both Belgrade rivers in one stroll.
Ušće is the best vantage point to look at Belgrade Fortress and the historical Belgrade skyline.
The public lawns around the Museum of Contemporary Art – MoCAB offer plenty of space for lying on the grass or having a picnic without crowds. In case of rain, just slide into the MoCAB museum.
The Museum itself is absolutely worth visiting. Its modernist 1960s building challenges stereotypes about socialist architecture. For this reason, we start our private guided tour of socialist and brutalist architecture in Belgrade with this building. The tour is led by Ksenija, an art historian who grew up in New Belgrade.

Inside the Museum, you’ll find unexpected and never crowded viewpoints to enjoy panoramas of Old and New Belgrade and carefully curated modern and contemporary art exhibitions.
In April 2026, in MoCAB, you can visit a major exhibition of Serbian and Yugoslav Art from the period 1900-1945, which includes more than 400 works from 150 artists, and the exhibition of Clara Sipprel and Paul Strand, American photographers who were very influential in the early 20th century.
The Museum is open 11am to 7pm on all days except Tuesdays. The ticket costs 600 dinars (5 EUR).
Ada Ciganlija – Visit Its Lesser-Known Part to Immerse Yourself in Nature
At Ada Ciganlija, you can chill on a long pebble beach that circles the entire lake, walk its 8km long promenade, rent bicycles or roller skates or play padel.

If you are looking for secluded places to fully unwind, choose the less-visited part of Ada, its marina at the backwater of the Sava River. There are paths for walking in the woods and two restaurants with a laid-back family atmosphere and delicious Serbian food. Gavez is tucked in among the trees, and Nautičar is perched above the water.
See the Japanese Cherry Blossom in Belgrade in April
Yes, you read well. You can see Sakura blossoming in Belgrade in April, in the Belgrade Botanical Garden. The Garden is open every day from 10am to 5pm, with the last entry at 4pm. The ticket costs 400 dinars (less than 4 EUR).

Explore New Belgrade as it Celebrates its 78th Birthday
11 April is celebrated as the birthday of New Belgrade, in memory of the first groundworks of the project that will, by 1980, become a city of 200,000, with some of its buildings and urban planning principles gaining international recognition.

The Genex Tower is an obvious choice for its brutalist expressiveness and impressive height. If you love brutalism, make sure you visit Block 23 or Block 22. Besides the brutalist style, here you can see how the socialist ideas of a more equal and homogenous society manifested through urban planning and public housing.
Notice the public schools and kindergartens, communal spaces with greenery and sports courts, and benches encouraging the inhabitants to socialise.
Discover Best Seasonal Picks at the Farmers Market in Belgrade in April
Farmers’ markets are among the liveliest and most colourful places in Belgrade in April. Fresh scents, bright colours, farmers cheering, Belgraders enthusiastic to pick the best groceries. The farmers’ market in April feels like an unstaged celebration of life, an outburst of joy and energy after the winter is over.

What to taste at the farmers’ markets in Belgrade in April? Don’t miss fresh goat cheese. The milk it is made of is better than at any other time of the year, as goats are grazing on highly nutritious spring grass and aromatic herbs.
The stalls are brimming with spring onions, pink radish and rare garlic species – wild garlic, called Sremuš in Serbian. Sremuš has been used as a traditional medicinal plant in Serbia for centuries. In today’s terms, we would say Sremuš has outstanding antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties.

For the selection of the best bites made by the traditional producers, let us take you to their stalls. You’ll enjoy more than tastes. You’ll hear the stories of how their grandfather started baking burek or what makes their family recipe for ajvar unique. Book our private guided food tasting to experience Belgrade’s favorite farmers market as one of the regulars.

See Extraordinary Aerial Ballet Performance on 4 and 5 April in Belgrade
Now in its 23rd year, Belgrade Dance Festival has become one of the most important dance festivals in Europe. This year’s edition, titled Be the Dance You Want to See, is presenting 25 new choreographies by 15 dance companies from 12 countries, until 8 April.

One of the most extraordinary shows will run at the open swimming pool Tašmajdan, on 4 and 5 April 2026, starting twice per day, at 11am and 2pm. Gratte Ciel, a dance company from Arles, France, will perform RoZéO, which can best be described as an aerial ballet.
The dancers perched on metal rods oscillate gently in the air. The choreographers’ intent is to create a moment of “calm, relaxation, and silence” within the urban landscape, as a desire to return to nature and change our relationship with it.
RoZéO has been performed at major art festivals worldwide and within the opening events of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
